What is the PTA?

THE PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION, OR PTA, is an organization that promotes parent involvement in school communities.  Collins PTA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (TAX I.D. #77-0034798) operating under the guidelines and bylaws of the National PTA.

In addition to funding the music, PE, and art programs at Collins to fill the California State budget gaps, Collins PTA also aids in funding the school infrastructure and technology upgrades (as necessary).  Collins PTA plays a significant role in enhancing the students' elementary experience at Collins with a variety of programs, activities, and events.

Did you know that most of the volunteers at Collins are "the PTA"? That includes the parents that help out in the classrooms, at the library for 30 minutes, room parents, parents that contribute to classroom activities and parties and so many others that the list is too long to include!

Collins PTA has an Executive Board comprising of eleven members with distinct roles. We set up committees as needed to conduct the programs, activities, and events throughout the year.  PTA relies heavily on parent volunteers to successfully implement and execute these programs, activities, and events.  This can be anywhere from 30 minutes once all year to however much you want to do and give.  There is never an obligation to commit for a certain duration.  PTA needs YOU!  Visit our Volunteer Opportunities page to see how you can help!

Collins PTA is a unit of the Cupertino-Fremont-Sunnyvale Council PTA which in turn is part of the California Sixth District PTA reporting to the California State PTA. All the PTAs operate under National PTA guidelines. Our National ID is: 00008803
